Location: Must reside in Colorado or Utah

Schedule: Remote

Travel: 50-75% Travel in Colorado and Utah

The Position:

The Video & Compute Sales Engineer is responsible for technical engagement across the entire pre-sales and post-sales lifecycle for rugged computing products, in-car video systems, body-worn video solutions, and supporting backend infrastructure. This includes running customer trials, validating solution performance, and supporting deployments to ensure a successful technical outcome.

This role serves as the primary technical advisor to Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), customers, and partners. The Sales Engineer conducts product demonstrations, leads technical discovery, executes trials, provides solution recommendations, and delivers post-sales troubleshooting across both Compute and Video technologies. The ideal candidate is comfortable in customer-facing environments, confident with hands-on technical work, and able to translate complex requirements into practical solutions.

Essential Job Duties:

* Prepare and deliver product demonstrations for Compute and Video solutions, both onsite and remote.

* Run and manage customer trials, including setup, configuration, field testing, data collection, and follow-up reporting.

* Represent company at customer meetings, trials, trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

* Maintain accurate project updates, trial documentation, and technical activities within Salesforce and FTIE.

* Support technical sections of RFQs/RFPs by providing accurate, solution-specific responses.

* Travel throughout the assigned region and across the U.S.; international travel as required.

* Communicate technical findings clearly to overseas engineering teams and internal R&D.

* Manage escalations, investigate issues, and coordinate custom solution requests for Compute and Video products.

* Own all technical responsibilities for assigned customer accounts during evaluations, trials, deployments, and post-sales support.

* Troubleshoot computer hardware, video systems, backend servers, firmware, WLAN/WWAN offload, and data workflows.

* Gather customer requirements and translate them into clear engineering and product requests.

* Understand needs across the Public Safety vertical and communicate field trends to Product Management and R&D.

* Prioritize workload across multiple RSMs and customers based on urgency, scope, and business impact.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of pre-sales or post-sales technical engineering experience in rugged computing, in-car video, body-worn video, mobile technology, or related fields.
  • Experience working directly with field sales teams, engineering, end-customers, and third-party partners.

Skills:

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage escalations effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Computer, Video & Software Skills:

  • Troubleshooting laptops, tablets, in-car video systems, body-worn cameras, and related hardware/software.
  • Understanding of Windows image builds, INF drivers, BIOS configuration, encryption, and OS deployment.
  • Experience with backend servers, video storage systems, wireless offload workflows, and data lifecycle management.
  • End-user support for installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Familiarity with vehicle technology integrations including docks, mounts, modems, routers, antennas, and MDT components.
  • Wireless troubleshooting (GPS, 4G/5G, access points, modems, antennas).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and the ability to support future releases.
  • Knowledge of networking basics, cloud workflows, AI-enhanced video, and system architecture is helpful.

Education: A college degree is helpful but not required; equivalent hands-on technical experience is acceptable.

Certifications:

  • CompTIA A+ is required (or obtained within 90 days of hire) and must remain current.
  • Additional certifications such as MSCE, networking, cloud, or video systems are helpful.

Travel:

  • Requires travel 50-75% of the time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a driving record meeting company criterion.
  • Passport required for international travel.
